Growing up I never got to go to an actual pumpkin patch and this year I was not about to pass that up again! I headed over to Chappell Farms just north of Barrie, ON right off of hwy 11. I have been here once before but it was a few years ago and only 2 days before Halloween, this year I wanted to make sure to get there in good time!
Due to going on Thanksgiving Monday it was SUPER busy! I knew it would be tho. This farm is a great place to bring children of any age and even your partner! I actually think this would be a very cute day date!
Inside the barn is where you can buy some great fall decor for your home and even Halloween costumes. One of the big things I really like about Chappell Farms is that they accept not only cash but debit and credit! There are just so many adorable trinkets inside that I am going to have to go back to do some Christmas shopping!
In order to do any of the fun activities you do have to pay but it’s not a lot of money at all and really for the amount of things to do and the time it takes to do it all it is really worth it plus you’re supporting a local farm and if you know me I am all for supporting my local farmers over a big chain store!
There is nothing like going to a farm and seeing animals and even getting to feed or pet them, I really enjoyed watching the children filled with excitement as they were feeding some of the sheeps.
As a child I used to love hay mazes and corn mazes but the hay maze I couldn’t due do to my allegories and also because this one you go on top of the hay and plus the kids were running so fast that it would take only seconds before I would fall off.
The corn maze I was very excited for and the good thing about this one is your can’t get lost!
I did really like that there was a chip truck. I am a sucker for chip trucks when doing day trips, I feel like I must stop at them!
What I really did enjoy was the tractor ride not only did you get to see some funny and creepy set ups in the fields but the tractor drove out to the pumpkin patch and you also got to get a ride back. This was now the time I was very excited!
I am happy that they don’t do this during the night because all I had going through my head was the movie Children of the Corn you know the original one not the remake! Even tho it was only the 10th of October I couldn’t believe how far back I had to go to get a orange pumpkin, the pumpkins you see right away are almost all green or have been sadly smashed!
Finally after walking far back in the patch I found a very cute pumpkin, now because the one I was picking wasn’t going to be carved I didn’t look for “perfection” I just wanted it to be right for me!
I actually think my pumpkin looks very good and I don’t know why this poor little guy was ignored but it worked out for me!
At this point I was tired, I was walking around for a few hours and plus I still had to go get my carving pumpkins from the selection you see when you first get to the farm. It was a very long time or at least felt like it but I am wanting to go back because I completely forgot to pick up mini pumpkins, gourds and fresh corn on the cob! Plus I wouldn’t mind doing all the activities again but this time with water to drink!
Even my drive home was just lovely with all the fall colours and knowing it was nice cold crisp air outside. I really do love this time of the year!
I can honestly say that I will be for sure going back to Chappell Farms next fall and even again closer to Christmas that is if they have anything for winter time. If not then I will just have to wait to see the Easter Bunny!
