One day back when I was on Pinterest I found a recipe for pupcakes and even tho I don’t have a dog I do have cats that I thought would like some and I even know some people with dogs! I do want to say this is my first time making pupcakes and also I am not the best a baking! For the actually cake part I followed the recipe from Urban Bakes and for the frosting I used the one over at Country Cleaver.
The first step was to get all my ingredients. For the cakes you will need….
1/2 Cup of smooth peanut butter
1/2 Cup vegetable oil
2 bananas mashed up
2/3 cup of honey
2 Cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
Preheat your over to 350 degrees F. If you have an electric mixer this will make your life a lot easier if not go grab that wooden spoon and start working your arm muscles! Mix together the honey, eggs, bananas, oil and peanut butter.
Once all mixed together slowly add the flour, baking soda and baking powder. Now I didn’t go slow enough and had some flour go all over so just be sure not to add it fast!
At this point you will add the mixture into your cupcake papers. Just a note don’t use the ones from the dollar store! For my mini ones I did and ended up with some of them burned!
I had my mini ones in the over for 10 minutes and the larger ones for 18 minutes. Just make sure to stick a toothpick in the centre to see if they are cooked! As you can see I was able to make 11 normal sizes and 24 mini ones, I could have made 12 normal ones but I ran out of cupcake paper.
Once out of the oven make sure you let them cool completely before adding the frosting or else it will melt away!
For the frosting all you will need is….
1/2 cup cream cheese
1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
1 tbsp honey
Hopefully you haven’t put away either your electric mixer or your wooden spoon! Mix together everything until nice a smooth and then put into a piping bag. Now just going to say this is the first time I have successfully used a piping bag so even tho the icing doesn’t look very good trust me it is the best I have ever done!
Just add the amount you wish and then let your pet enjoy!
When I went to give one to my cats all they ate was the icing, not all that surprised tho! We will see what happens when I give some to the dogs. Let me know if you make these or have a better kind I should try to make!
